Scoping report lodged
A Scoping Report for the Abercrombie Wind Farm has been lodged with the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) in October 2024.
The report provides a project description, indicative design, and identifies potential impacts. The Department will now review the report and seek advice from local Council and other government agencies about what should be included in the Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) for this project. A copy of the Scoping Report is available at the NSW Planning Portal here:

The Scoping report layout incorporates the results of preliminary environmental assessments and exists at this stage to evolve, the design will be modified and improved subject to feedback from involved landowners, community members, and ongoing survey results. Community members are encouraged to read the Scoping Report and provide feedback directly to either the project team or the Department.
Next steps towards planning approval
Once the SEARs are issued, we will prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). This involves conducting further environmental and social impact studies on the project. We will be seeking feedback from the community to inform our preparation of the EIS. The EIS stage can take up to 24 months to complete following the assessment requirements from the SEARs.
EPBC referral
The findings of the preliminary environmental investigations confirmed the presence of matters of national environmental significance within the project boundary. The project has submitted the EPBC referral for formal assessment to department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) to determine whether the proposed development will need approval under the EPBC Act. The EPBC referral submission was available at the EPBC act portal for public comments here:
