SEARS issued for Abercrombie Wind Farm project
December 2024
The Project has passed the first milestone in the planning process, with the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) issuing the Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs).
Receiving SEARs indicates DPE’s satisfaction with our adherence to the planning process, relevant guidelines and legislation, and our Scoping Report.
What are SEARs?
The SEARs provide direction for preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Project.
We will use these directions to plan environmental studies, investigations, cultural heritage surveys, and community engagement.
The results of the studies, investigations, and surveys, together with feedback from the local community and stakeholders, will inform the Project’s design and be documented in the EIS.
We will then be able to provide greater clarity on what the Project will look like and the actual anticipated impacts.
What will be addressed in the Environmental Impact Statement?
The following key areas for potential impact will be addressed within the EIS:
Traffic and transportation routes
Landscape and visual impacts
Noise and vibration impacts
Social impact
Economic and benefit sharing
Aboriginal cultural heritage
Biodiversity and ecology
Waste
Water and soil
Air quality
Land
Hazards and risks
